Native ("we", "us") builds a Chrome extension and a mobile app that help you learn languages through the content you already enjoy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account details you provide (such as your email) when you sign up. Learning activity — the words you save, look up, or review — so we can sync your progress across devices. Basic technical data such as app version, device type, and anonymized usage events that help us fix bugs and improve features.
How we use your information
To provide and sync your learning experience, to keep the service secure, to understand which features help learners most, and to respond when you contact support. We do not sell your personal data.
Content you browse
The extension processes the text on pages you visit only to show translations and save words you choose. Page content is processed to deliver these features and is not used to build advertising profiles.
Data sharing
We share data only with service providers that help us run Native (such as hosting and analytics), under agreements that protect your information, or when required by law.
Your choices
You can review and delete your saved words at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
Does the app have access to my private data?
Not at all. We have no access to any private data of any user. The app’s permissions are limited to running the language-learning idea, within the rules of Google Play and its security reviewers, and pose absolutely no risk to Native users. Native’s security is continuously reviewed by Google Play.
Why does the app request these permissions?
We need two permissions to make the Native idea work: 1. Screen record permission: We need this permission to extract the text under the magnifier in any app, so we can offer you this tool. All text-extraction processing happens on your own phone — nothing is sent to Native’s servers. Nothing is stored except the translated text, so that only you can access your translation history. 2. Notification listener permission: We need this permission to sync subtitles and lyrics with the YouTube videos and music currently playing, so we can tell their playback position. This permission is used for nothing else. Google Play’s reviewers monitor this area, and it is checked before every release on Google Play — the app is only published after approval. Disabling the tools fully revokes all permissions until you choose to enable the tools again. Our whole goal is to bring language learning into any app, and it was exactly these permissions that made it possible for us to build this idea — without them, realizing it would have been practically impossible.
